Well here we are, Newgrounds under a whole new layout and it's good to see the redesign up at long last. I remember back in July 2007 I had made a news post regarding the revamped Newgrounds at the time, although the launch happened while I was away on holiday. Well this time, I'm just home with no job so my experience to see the 2012 redesign launched was right on time, although it was a much longer wait than originally expected.
As for my overall thoughts on the changes found on the site throughout, I gotta say I enjoy it all. Navigating movies and games feels much better now and the individual genres helps a lot. The different layout colours for the separate sections of Newgrounds definitely makes it more of a pleasure to the eyes. I'm sick of seeing black and white standard layouts everywhere else on the internet so it was about time I saw something this colourful.
If there's one thing I don't like on the new layout as much as the old one, it's the level icons. I feel all of them are tiny but can understand the purpose of making them below ground and not have them define our image everywhere on the site apart from a small weapon. Still, it's hard to help but think the 2007 redesign levels are more preferable but I will adapt to the new set of levels. At least this time around the aura colors fit the site layout better. Previously, the pink backgrounds looked very obnoxious to the site while the gold aura was very dazzling despite being my aura. Thumbs up for the new ideas with characterising the auras by departments. Gamer aura with blue suits me just fine, even though I'm probably more of an Audiophile but I am what I choose to be.
Of course, this redesign is what I've made endless contributions to and after seeing it all come to fruition, I can safely say I feel rewarded for all the work I've done. Starting all the way back in July 2009 when Tom originally asked for users to help out with genre/tagging input, this idea for helping out the site was recommended from a fellow Wi/Ht?'er of mine and one thing lead to another, I then helped out with the icons and have done over 16,000 for the site since which as a result made me Newgrounds' User of the Year for 2010. So yes, the outcome of this has made me satisfied with the work being paid off. However, when it comes to icons, I tend to forget which I've done unless it's by authors who I know I made icons for. Everything else, it's good to see a fair amount of submissions being listed under the genre, although not only there are still tons to input, I do have to feel a little embarrassed for helping out with the majority of the spam genre. Ah well, at least I did the dirty work so no-one else had to.
One last thing I have to comment on is hoping the notification system will be properly implemented shortly. A notification for Newgrounds is something I've wanted to see on the site for a while now so here's hoping it meets my satisfaction by informing you of new comments to your news posts, reviews for your submissions, responses to comments you've posted on others, etc. Much less regular checkings on own userpage and on the blogs section will be required.
So overall, I'm pleased with the new turn for the redesign. It's not often I can fully agree on layout change for a website but for this, it's a great change for sure. I will miss the 2007 redesign but it's served the site very well for four ½ years but now it's time to freshen up the site. Now that's a lot more than what I could say about the annual YouTube/Facebook changes. Kudos to the staff for putting heart and soul into this!

I can choose view image on any level icon or smilie and it will show the full list.
Well of course. :) Nice to see the full list with one image but it's made things trickier with external sites. Thankfully we've found ways around them so NG Log, EXP update, etc are good.

That's nice to know.
On the other hand, I will agree that it does feel stats are being put aside on the site. At least we have the stats on the main page, although why that can't be seen on the direct link to news posts is a wonder.

Gfox is right.
- Disappointing icon levels.
- No warnings when it comes to depositing.
- Statistics page separated from the main one in every account.
I think the NG admins don't like the statistics but they're forced to keep them or the traffic will go down.
I like the menus and the brownish background. It's certainly easier to vote on under judgment submissions.
The deposit message will return.

The best thing I can say about the new redesign is that it isn't the 2007 one. I'll just leave it at that, for brevity's sake. :)
I guess you're not happy that:
- Neutral is no more
- Levels 42, 51 and 55 swords are gone

Yeah, the level icons do seem a bit tiny. I noticed that quite a few have completely changed, but there are others that still remain from the 2007 design. Some of the designs are nice, and some are downright comical.
One thing is for sure though. that lolipop isn't going anywhere.

I agree the levels are disappointing each redesign they improved artistically but now since the smallness of the levels they suck. I need to figure out which auras I am going to be using. Which one is red.

About the notifications: I think it's the users/authors you have on your favorite list. What's even more amazing: Not only does it show the news from those users, but now I have a noteification saying "New art from SBB". Sweet!
Also, if linking to the FAQ you should link to "faq" and not "fag" :P
Ah yes, I got a notification from Swain. I'm hoping the notifications tab will cover a whole lot more.

I do quite like the new layout, but I miss my giant silver fist. I can get over that though, and I feel the site looks a lot better visually as well. At least I can brag about how I'm pre-redesign.

I agree on everything, the small level icons are the only problem I have with this redesign. Do you know if there's still a page with all the levels & ranks on it? I can't seem to find it.
Those pages are on the old FAQ pages which are still around but are not formatted correctly.

Well done man, you alone have helped bring this redesign forward a great deal, I mean, it could be several months more before it launched had you not given so much of your time to the site.

The notification system should be awesome. Right now I have you and Supersteph on my notifications. How the hell did you two end up there?
Anyway, I just love the stats page we have now. It's very helpful.
The new level icons? Why are they so small? One thing I liked about the BBS was that no user (except for the staff members) could chose their own level icons. This prevented users from chosing overly annoying images. Ok, now the user umages are pretty small (you can't even make out my icon, even though it should be pretty obvious what it is), but now we have two avatars instead of only one. Lame.
Also, what's your level icon supposed to be? Pandora's box?
At least I got the weapon from Alien Hominid, which is pretty cool. Much better than that stupid golden gauntlet.
How does one add to notifications?
JohnnyUtah calls it the Mystery Box but it's clearly the Pandora's Box. You can't get more forbidden than the Pandora's Box.

I was checking up on Newgrounds incredibly much during the last two days. It wasn't until I woke up this morning and checked Newgrounds that I got to see the new redesign. Sadly I had to go to school, but just seeing the new design for less than five minutes overwhelmed me. It was amazing, and I couldn't wait to get back home. I fucking love this new design. The only bad thing is that I have to get used to a couple of new things. But I think it's awesome. You have done an amazing job and I thank you for it. Thank you Bahamut. :D
